The Birth Change Campaign launches

So much exciting birth change is going on in maternity care these days it's knocking my BOLD socks off. Okay,we aren't there yet, but we are inching closer to mother-centered care.

I'll take an inch!

More people are using midwives for low-risk births. Mothers are being discouraged to induce before 39 weeks. And high profile newspapers like NY Times are finally understanding that it's not abnormal, hippy lit to present an article that talks about "birth as normal."

There IS movement towards change.

That's why BOLD is launching The Birth Change Campaign. To increase the noise from real people about the realities of childbirth today. It's happening in communities (May) and on college campuses (October). And we're doing it creatively, using my play "Birth" to move people to action.

31 days - 31 communities/college campuses.

Organize a performance (or now a screening of the play) in your community. Or just go see a performance in your community.

Birth IS changing and MUST change more. Be a part of it. Or as I like to say (with a nod to Gandhi):

BOLD the Birth Change You Wish to See in the World.
